PancakesI love prepared mixes…mmmm, pancakes dripping with syrup, muffins bursting with blueberries, oooey gooey chocolaty brownies, …mmmm [oops, pardon me I digress!] however, I don’t love what’s in the ones from the grocery.  No offense Betty, but it’s just not good!

Instead, I make my own, with non-toxic ingredients like organic cane sugar, whole wheat flour and non-aluminum baking powder.

First, assemble the dry ingredients* and measure  into zip bags (or jars).

You can see I have this thing for masking tape.

Write the instructions on the bags (or put a tag on a jar)

Then, voila!  The convenience of prepared mixes available  when I crave want them.

God wants us to be prepared as well. 2Timothy says, Preach the Word! Be ready in season and out.

But, to preach the Word we need to be ready.

We have to know God → by accepting Jesus as our Lord. (click here for tutorial)

We have to know His Word  → through the Holy Spirit who comes to dwell in us when we give our life to Christ.

We have to know His character → by reading the Bible so we recognize His characteristics and His voice.

The faithfulness of God is exhibited in the ways He prepares His people.  He instructed Noah to build an ark so when the flood came mankind was preserved (Genesis 6-9).  God prepared Joseph so when famine came he was in a position to feed people (Genesis 39-47). John the Baptist came to prepare the way of the Lord (Matthew 3:3) which was the fulfillment of a prophecy spoken 400 years earlier (Malachi 3:1). Jesus made a way for us to be with the Father and has gone to prepare a place for us in heaven (John 14:3).

What is He preparing you for? Are you ready? Do you know Him?

We can’t be ready if we aren’t prepared! Ask God to prepare  you and then be diligent and persevere.   Our life models our beliefs.

So, let’s get prepared! While I fill my bags of mixes  I’m going to be listening for God’s voice to direct my paths so I am ready! I want to be available for God, too, don’t you?

I will bring the blind by a way they did not know; I will lead them in paths they have not known. I will make darkness light before them, And crookedplaces straight. These things I will do for them, And not forsake them. ~ Isaiah 42:16
